I was honest from the beginning about my reasons for running the Hot Chocolate 15k. Yes, I wanted to push myself and achieve a new goal but the promise of chocolate at the end was more than I could handle.
I have no dietary education besides articles that I read, but I feel like chocolate, especially chocolate beverages give you the an extra little umph after long runs that keep you from feeling completely dead. Or at least for me. I like chocolate gu’s and could eat a pound of chocolate when nothing else appeals to me after a long run (This was something I figured out in the weeks leading up to the race, I had no idea before hand!)
Chocolate Fondue, hot chocolate, and chocolate squares. Perfect (but not so healthy 🙂 ) post race fuel.
I loved the feel of a big race and really liked that this one had a special theme to it. I think I’ll look for things like this in the future whether it be chocolate or something else!
Sadly, the goodies were eaten quickly.
But I think I’ve proven that I will run for chocolate!
