Black Bean Burgers

Sometimes the thought of something other than beef in a burger is refreshing. It changes it up and gives a bit of a twist to your dinner. Plus I think beef burgers are best served on a bun, and these black bean burgers, well they turned more into patties.

I could put them in a salad, eat them on bread, or serving them alongside rice and veggies.

Oh, hello, doesn’t that just look delicious.

I love mixing up my meals and doing something a little different. I really like using beans as an alternative to meat (not that I don’t like meat but beans are a littleĀ  less fussy and more versatile).

So gives this a try, I think it has just enough flavor to qualify as almost meat.

Black Bean “Burgers”

1 can black beans, drained and rinsed

1 cup oats

1 tsp oregano

1 tsp basil

1 garlic clove, chopped

1 T soy sauce

1/2 t salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Grind oats in a food processor or blender. Pour beans into a bowl and smash with a back of a fork or mash potato smasher to your desired consistency. Add in oats and seasonings and combine.

Form into patties and place on a baking sheet. Bake for about 15 to 20 minutes on each side.

Serve on buns, with rice and veggies or however you desire!
