Pomegranates

Last winter I read Traveling with Pomegranates by Sue Monk Kidd and Ann Kidd Taylor. It really hit the spot, and I could relate a lot to Ann’s part of the story. Since then, I’ve always had an interest in pomegranates (Not related at all to the story if you’ve read it) due to the book and recipes I’ve seen.

I’ve always been a little too intimidated to try it though. Cutting it open and fishing out the arils (seeds) seemed too complicated and scary.

Right after Thanksgiving, I took the plunge and bought one. But then it sat on my counter for 2 weeks before I finally gave in and took on the task.

Yes, it was complicated. No, it wasn’t as difficult as I thought. And yes, it was tasty with a drizzle of honey, it became a treat worth the effort.
